What I help with
Where this work usually starts
Most people arrive without a tidy explanation. Something has just been running in the background for too long. Any of these is reason enough.
-
Anxiety, stress & emotional wellbeing
The mind that will not switch off, the tight chest, the 3am worry.
-
Trauma & personal development
What happened that you have never quite put down. At your own pace.
-
Anger & emotional regulation
Reactions that arrive faster than judgement, and the regret afterwards.
-
Grief, loss & life transitions
Endings that do not follow a schedule, and the long stretch of not-knowing after them.
-
Self-esteem, identity & life roles
The inner voice you would never use on anyone else.
-
Domestic abuse recovery & codependency
Finding your footing again, and working out where you end and someone else begins.
-
Purpose, values & spirituality
Whether the way you are spending your life matches what you actually believe.
-
Couples counselling
The same argument on repeat, and the distance that crept in quietly.
How it works
Three steps, and the first one is free
Everything you say stays between us, with the narrow legal exceptions I will walk you through in the first session.
-
A 15-minute call
Send me a message and I will reply with a few times that work. We talk briefly so you can hear how I work and ask whatever you need to. No cost, no intake form.
-
Your first session
Fifty minutes. Nothing to prepare. Most people open with "I am not sure where to begin", which is a perfectly good place to begin.
-
Finding a rhythm
Usually weekly at first, spacing out as things settle. You decide how often we meet, and you can stop whenever you want.
Who you would be talking to
A real conversation, with someone trained to hold it well.
I am Parsa Mousavi, a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master's in Counselling and a Bachelor's in Psychology. I work with adults and couples across the Tri-Cities and, online, across British Columbia.
My practice is integrative rather than tied to one method. I draw on cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based practice, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, narrative, person-centred and solution-focused work, depending on what is in front of us. What changes things, though, is a space where you can say the true version of something and not be judged, managed, or rushed.

Questions
Asked before booking
How much does counselling cost in Port Coquitlam?
Individual sessions are $160 and couples sessions are $180, each 50 minutes, close to the regional average for a Registered Clinical Counsellor. A receipt is provided after every session so you can claim it against your extended health plan.
Is counselling covered by insurance or MSP in BC?
Counselling by a Registered Clinical Counsellor is not covered by MSP, but most extended health plans in BC do cover it, including Pacific Blue Cross, Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife and GreenShield. Check your plan for "Registered Clinical Counsellor" or "RCC" specifically.
Do you offer online counselling across British Columbia?
Yes. Sessions run over secure, confidential video and are available to anyone located in BC, including Coquitlam, Port Moody, Maple Ridge, Burnaby and Vancouver. Same length, same fee as in person.
Do you offer counselling in Farsi?
Yes. I work in both English and Farsi. For many Farsi-speaking clients, being able to describe something difficult in a first language, without translating the feeling into a second one, makes a real difference to the work.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You do not need a crisis or a diagnosis to justify starting. If something has been sitting with you long enough that you are reading this page, that is reason enough. The free consultation exists so you can find out without committing to anything.
You do not have to know what to say yet.
A free 15-minute call is just a conversation. No cost, no commitment. If I am not the right fit, I will help you find someone who is.
